Hive M10

Hive M10 was created with swarm cells from hive M7 in May 2011.  It overwintered as a two-story 5-frame nuc.  The spring nectar flow resulted in a good honey crop in 2012.  On 6 June, 2012, two frames of brood and two frames of stores were removed for nucs.  This reduced the population such that the net weight declined to 50 pounds (as opposed to 20 or 30) by 20 September.  Fall feeding increased the weight to over 80 pounds which was more than adequate to see the colony through the winter.   Between 19 November, 2012 and 10 March, 2013, the net weight had declined only 5 pounds and the colony is weak.
